Five Homers Fuel BPCC’s Road Sweep at Arkansas State Three Rivers

The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers delivered a dominant road performance Wednesday, sweeping Arkansas State Three Rivers in convincing fashion with 9-0 and 15-0 victories. BPCC combined for five home runs on the day and outscored ASU Three Rivers 24-0 across the two-game set.

Pitcher Clelia Costes set the tone early, recording nine strikeouts during game one's 9-0 victory. Costes kept Arkansas State Three Rivers off the scoreboard while BPCC's offense steadily built momentum.

The Cavaliers opened the scoring in the third inning when Cailey Slade singled to drive in a run. BPCC broke the game open in the fifth, plating five runs. Jules Bosco doubled home a run, Yasmin Gallarzo singled to score another, Christina Gegg and Kayleigh Goss each drew bases-loaded walks, and Kylie Ryan added an RBI single during the decisive inning.

BPCC finished with 13 hits in the opener. Samantha Land, Bosco, Slade and Teizsha Kaopuiki each recorded two hits. Gallarzo and Slade drove in two runs apiece. The Lady Cavaliers were flawless defensively, committing no errors in the shutout victory.

Game two featured an explosive offensive display, highlighted by sophomore Morgan Faunce's two-home-run performance in a 15-0 rout. BPCC struck early in the first inning as Kaopuiki singled to center field and Gegg followed with a home run to center — her first of the season — to give the Cavaliers an immediate advantage.

The Lady Cavaliers extended the lead in the second when Faunce doubled to right field and Chloe Stafford drove in a run on a groundout. BPCC added three more runs in the fourth, as Faunce hit a solo home run to right and Faith Lopez delivered a two-run single. The fifth inning put the game out of reach. Makayla Martinez launched a solo home run to right, Bosco tripled home a run, Faunce connected for a two-run homer to center, and Sixx Arnold added a two-run shot to left as BPCC scored six runs on five hits in the frame.

Katy Allen earned the win in the circle, allowing four hits over five scoreless innings while striking out two. BPCC totaled 16 hits in the game, with Stafford, Bosco and Kaopuiki each collecting multiple hits.

The Lady Cavaliers remain on the road through the weekend, traveling to Meridian Community College on Friday and Hinds Community College on Saturday. They return home Wednesday, March 4, to host nationally ranked Galveston College in a doubleheader, beginning at 12pm.
