Cavaliers claim first victory of the 2025–2026 season under new Head Coach
BOSSIER CITY – A new era of men’s basketball is off to a strong start as the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers captured their first victory of the 2025–2026 season — and the first under new Head Coach Jeff Moore — with an impressive 105–78 win at home over Centenary College JV of Shreveport Monday night.
The Cavaliers delivered an electric performance on both ends of the court, showcasing Moore’s up-tempo style and team-oriented approach. Led by standout efforts across the roster, BPCC controlled the game from the opening tip-off and never looked back.
Zequan “Z” Lewis led all scorers with 24 points, along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals, setting the tone offensively. Tony Montgomery came close to a triple-double, recording 22 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals in a dynamic all-around performance.
Drew Cooper contributed 19 points on an efficient 70% shooting, adding 6 rebounds, while Mazin Lumori knocked down three of five from beyond the arc for 11 points. Dustin Welch controlled the glass with 9 rebounds to go with 5 points, and Stafford Bailey added 8 points to round out the Cavaliers’ balanced scoring effort.
Coach Moore praised the team’s energy and execution following their first win.
“This was a total team effort,” Moore said. “Every player contributed, every possession mattered, and that’s exactly the way we’re going to approach every game this season. This win is just the beginning of what we’re building here, and I couldn’t be prouder of this team.”
The victory gives the Cavaliers early momentum as they continue their non-conference schedule and build toward conference play later this season. BPCC is back in action tonight (Nov. 4) against Louisiana Christian University JV from Pineville, LA, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. in the Coach Billy Montgomery Gymnasium at 6220 East Texas Street in Bossier City.
