PARIS, Texas — Bossier Parish Community College opened NJCAA Region XIV play with a hard-fought 78–72 road victory over Paris Junior College (5-4) on Wednesday night, powered by double-digit scorers and a strong second-half surge.
BPCC (7-2) was led by Drew Cooper, who delivered a game-high 23 points along with six rebounds, while Mazin Lumori added 15 points and five rebounds. Zequan Lewis chipped in 14 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Dustin Welch anchored the interior with 11 rebounds, plus six points, two assists, and two steals, while Stafford Bailey made key contributions off the bench with six points, five rebounds, and a block.
The Cavs erased a narrow 42–41 halftime deficit by tightening their defense and controlling the glass in the final minutes. First-year head coach Jeff Moore praised his team’s effort in a tough conference environment.
“Paris is a talented, well-coached team, and winning on the road in our region is never easy,” Moore said. “We stuck to our plan, trusted each other, and made the big plays when it mattered.”
BPCC looks to carry that momentum into Saturday’s home contest against Navarro College as Region XIV action continues. Game time is set for 4pm.
