Cavaliers Look to Rebound at Home After Road Losses

Cavaliers Look to Rebound at Home After Road Losses

With the regular season entering a critical stretch, the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers return home this week in search of much-needed wins after back-to-back road losses in Region XIV play.

The Cavaliers fell 89-70 to Navarro College on Saturday, before dropping a 91-63 decision to Blinn College on Monday night. Now 8-12 overall and 2-10 in Region XIV play, the Cavaliers return home this week looking to reset and compete for wins Wednesday and Saturday. Against Navarro, BPCC was led by Tony Montgomery, who finished with 24 points and four rebounds. Zequan Lewis added 20 points and seven rebounds, including six on the offensive glass, while Dustin Welch contributed six points and seven rebounds, five of them offensive.

In Monday’s matchup at Blinn, Drew Cooper paced the Cavaliers with 18 points and five rebounds. Montgomery followed with 17 points, Lewis recorded nine points and eight rebounds, and Welch added 10 points and five rebounds. Despite the final score, BPCC showed stretches of strong play against Blinn, trailing just 36-31 at halftime.

“We played well in the first half and were right there at halftime,” said Head Coach Jeff Moore. “Turnovers hurt us in the second half, and Blinn capitalized in transition. We’re focused on putting together two strong 20-minute halves at home on Wednesday.”

The Cavaliers face Panola College Wednesday at 7pm, seeking to answer a 79-60 road loss from December. BPCC will then host Coastal Bend College on Saturday at 2pm in the teams’ first matchup of the season. The originally scheduled Jan. 24 meeting was postponed by Winter Storm Fern and has been rescheduled for March 7 at Coastal Bend.
