BOSSIER CITY, La. - The 11th-ranked Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies had too much firepower for the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers Wednesday evening at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gym as they cruised to a 99-60 win.
The game was tied at 15 late in the first quarter before TJC would close out the period on a 5-0 run. The Apache Ladies would outscore the Lady Cavs 79-45 over the next three quarters.
TJC had five players reach double figures, including Taryn Wills who poured in a game-high 22 points. Nadacheka Laccen added 17 points, while Deborah Ogayemi had 12 points. Two of those five TJC players, Clara Rotich and Jasmine Payne, registered double-doubles. Rotich scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, while Payne chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
BPCC had just two players reach double figures, Ma'Kaila Lewis and Faith Robinson, who scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.
With the win, No. 11 TJC improves to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in Region XIV, while the loss drops BPCC to 3-7 overall and 0-6 in region play.
