BOSSIER CITY, La. - The No. 24-ranked Blinn College Buccaneers defeated the Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers 78-53 here Friday afternoon at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gymnasium.
The Buccanners took full advantage of the Lady Cavaliers poor shooting night. BPCC shot a dismal 22.7 percent for the game, including just 10 percent from three-point land. Making things worse for the Lady Cavs was that they also missed 15 of their 37 free throw attempts (59.5%).
Blinn connected on just 40 percent of its shots but it was enough to outscore BPCC. The Buccaneers led 37-20 at the break and would build up a 33-point lead (71-38) in the fourth quarter.
The Buccaneers were led by Telisha Brown and Keaundra Eddings, who both scored 17 points, while Hailey Atwood added 16. No BPCC player reached double figures in the game. Faith Robinson and Ma'Kaila Lewis each had nine points, while Majegane Barry and Tarondia Harold both had seven.
With the win, Blinn impoves to 14-5 overall and 10-3 in Region XIV, while the loss drops BPCC to 4-13 and 1-12 in region play. The Lady Cavaliers and Buccaneers will meet again on Mon., March 29, in Brenham, Texas.
After Monday's game against 24th-ranked Blinn, BPCC's final two regular season games are at No. 11 Tyler Junior College on March 31, and home versus No. 4 Trinity Valley Community College on April 3.
